Getting there
If you want to slow down and enjoy the best of what Mother Nature offers in Mexico, then hop off the plane in Cancun, drive northwest for 1.5 hours, and take a quick 20-minute ferry to the bohemian island of Holbox.
What to do

I highly recommend using Fun In The Sun Weddings Photography for a wedding in Mexico! We had such a blast with Marc the photographer, we felt really comfortable around him, he made the day really fun and stress free. My wedding party was laughing throughout the day and telling me how funny and great he was. And you need to laugh a little when it's 90 degrees with 100% humidity!! Not to mention we love love love our pictures - they came out so beautiful. He's very talented and did a great job capturing the gorgeous and vibrant background of Playa del Carmen, Mexico on our wedding day. As far as contacting and emailing the company, Gillian (who is Marc's wife) is very sweet, professional and responds to you very quickly. I received all my pictures about a month after my wedding, I thought that was a very fast turn around time. My husband and I are very pleased with our choice and would suggest this company to anyone having a destination wedding anywhere in Riviera Maya, Mexico!!

Recently proposed to my girlfriend in Playa del Carmen and I searched all over the internet for a good photographer.... Thank you Gillian and Marc for an amazing experience!! I am not a crier and Gillian made our vow renewal elopement so... intimate and personal it brought every emotion out of me, it was perfect! We recently had a honeymoon session done with Marc and it was such a great experience! My husband and I both dread... having photos taken, so it was really refreshing to have someone who made this not only easy but actually enjoyable for the both of us. Marc is an excellent photographer and a pleasure to work with. He is fun to be around and made us feel super... comfortable, happy, and energized during the shoot. We had a wonderful experience working with Marc and Gillian, owners of Fun in The Sun Weddings. Our experience from... start to finish was remarkable. They were able to meet our specific needs around time and cost, assisted us in locating other local vendors and on the wedding day Marc delivered. He was on time, calm and fun to be around. We had a great time working with Gillian and Marc. We were in Playa del Carmen for a couple's getaway and decided we... wanted a few pictures of ourselves beyond the selfies we had been taking. So ours weren't "wedding pictures". We contacted them and decided to go with the Mini Package. We met them by their home (they gave detailed directions for the taxi driver). Marc picked a number of nearby spots: we walked from one to the other in a matter of seconds - a rustic fence, palm trees, the beach, some Mayan ruins, and jungle shots. Marc has a great eye and could tell us how to pose, where to stand, etc.In less than two weeks, we got a link to the photos. We were very pleased, and they are ours to share or print as we wish. They look great and Marc was able to make an older couple look pretty good! We would highly recommend them. Well worth it!read more

My fiance and I had the most amazing experience with Fun In the Sun Weddings. My fiance arranged a surprise proposal... for me with Marc over Skype prior to us arriving in Mexico. He was informative, easy to talk to and really helpful in suggesting the most beautiful location and coming up with a great cover story - I was clueless throughout! We had a photoshoot on the beach after the proposal and Marc was extremely fun and engaging. We received our pictures around 2 weeks later and all of the pictures are stunning! I relive the moment every time I look at them. We have the most beautiful photos and wonderful memories which we will treasure forever. Marc and his team were so professional, so funny, and kept it interesting the entire time! My fiance can be a little... annoying about taking all the photos but Marc kept him laughing the whole time so he completely forgot about it! Also the communication with Gillian was great, she never left us in the dark and quickly responded! It's always a little nerve wracking hiring someone in a different country you've never met, etc but they put my mind at ease throughout the entire process. My only regret is not purchasing a longer photography package so trust me when I say THEY ARE WORTH IT! Cannot wait to get my photos back!!!read more

Got married in Playa del Carmen at the Valentin December 7th, 2019. I highly recommend Fun in the Sun Weddings if you... are considering hiring a destination wedding photographer. From initial contact, questions and booking they made it so easy and I felt very taken care of comfortable. Our resort had an in-house photographer but from what I saw online I was convinced I wanted Fun in the Sun and it was well worth the hotels outside vendor fee. On the special day I was immediately comfortable with the photographers (Marc & I forgot the second photographers name but she was the best) as was my husband and our guests. We received our photos ahead of schedule and could not be more pleased with them! It was EXACTLY what I wanted. Job well done!!! If I had to do it all over, I'd book them again in a heartbeat!read more

My fiancé and I were on a cruise this past week and had a day to spend in Cozumel. We had yet to get our engagement... pictures done, so 2 weeks before leaving, we reached out to Marc and Gillian to see if they had a last minute availability for an engagement shoot the 1 day we would be near their city, and they did! They responded so quickly with all the necessary information I had requested. We chose them from the other glowing reviews they have, and so far, we couldn't be happier we did! (I say so far because we haven't received the pictures back yet, but we expect to be just as pleased with them as we are the experience!)They could not have been more accommodating and helpful through the whole process with us being from out of town and only available for a very small window of time. Marc made us feel so comfortable the entire time; we let him do his thing and he let us give input and our short time (an hour & a half) was so well spent with all the different backdrops he was able to provide. We took photos in the colorful city, a jungle ruin scene, and ended at sunset on the beach! It was absolutely perfect! And Gillian was the absolute sweetest to coordinate with! If you have any worries about meeting random people in a random place, they will completely take that away 😂 I would give them 5/5 over again and as I said, we are so anxious to see the photos- we know they are going to be great! If you're thinking of booking, do it! I don't think you'll have any regrets either! Thanks so much Marc & Gillian!read more

My wife and I decided to renew our vowels in Playa Del Carmen. We reviewed multiple photographers in the area and... decided to go with Fun in the Sun weddings. Wow we made the correct choice. Marc was very professional and super easy to get along with. We went to multiple locations including the beach, jungle, and the city. I worked with Gillian prior to us landing in Mexico and she was quick to answer any questions and alleviated any anxiety that we had. She hooked us up with her friend (Angie) who completed my wife's hair and make-up. All in all this was a fantastic experience and I would definitely give everyone a 5 star rating. Oh by the way, Gillian officiated our ceremony and it was definitely a moment that me and my spouse will cherish for the rest of our lives.. Very professional...… 5 STARS.....read more

Fun In the Sun are simply AMAZING! They really are more than photographers. From the beginning through to the end they... offered endless support, advice, and they create such a relaxed and fun atmosphere! On the day itself we felt comfortable and confident, and it was like having two friends there with you! Their experience and professionalism shines through, allowing you to relax and have the best day! We got our first round of photos through this week and couldn’t be happier with the results, they are seriously talented and genuinely love what they do! Since posting our 'sneak peek' photos on social media, so many people have commented that these photos look like they should be 'in a magazine', or that they're some of the best photos they've ever seen - It truly is mind boggling just how fantastic these photos are. Amazing Engagement shoot!! From start to finish the experience was amazing!! Amazing communication via email. It was... pouring rain the day of our shoot and Marc was so kind to send a message saying that they are watching the weather closely and it didn't look like it was going to clear up so they were so kind to reschedule to another day.The shoot itself was SO MUCH FUN. Marc is so down to earth and funny. My guy wasn't super excited about the photo shoot but instantly felt comfortable and actually had fun!!! Our pics turned out amazing and we couldn't be happier. Marc and Gillian are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. We used Fun In The Sun Weddings for our Wedding in January. Choosing them was... one of the best decisions. Suite job! I used Marc for the photos for our hotel, Honey B Suites in Playa del Carmen, and we are ecstatic with the... results! He did everything we asked of him and more - went above and beyond to capture all the best shots, different days, different times of day, etc. The photos truly capture the spirit of the hotel and present us in our 'best light'.
