Brittan and Colman are Fun In The Sun Weddings’ newest newlyweds! Sometimes the path to happily-ever-after just requires patience for the right timing.
This is their story…
How They Met
When the bride and groom met at work through a co-worker, they had already been hearing about each other for many months. They became fast friends but were actually dating other people at the time. When those other relationships failed they started dating, fell in love, and found out that a lot of their mutual friends and coworkers were rooting for them to get together all along.
How He Proposed
Colman took Brittan on vacation to Puget Sound, Washingston. One evening after a dinner overlooking the sound, they stepped outside and he knelt down and asked for her hand. He didn’t have a chance to get the ring sized prior to the trip, and assumed it was too small. So after asking Brittan to marry him, he closed the box and didn’t put the ring on her finger! They laugh about her confusion now, because in the end it was actually a perfect fit.
Why a Destination Wedding in Akumal
Brittan’s dad and stepmom got married on Isla Mujeres in 2015 and loved the area. Since Brittan and Colman did not love any wedding venues in their home state of Utah, her parents invited them to Akumal to explore the possibility of a beach wedding and they were smitten by the breathtaking beauty! Most of their family would need to travel for the wedding anyway, so they figured why not have them travel somewhere new? It was the perfect place.
Her Beach Wedding Dress
Our bride fell in love with her wedding dress online before settling on a venue, so she hesitated buying it. Once they decided on a destination wedding in Akumal, she tried to find the gown again but it was no longer being produced. She searched for it used, and even tried other wedding dresses, but couldn’t get that dream gown out of her head. One day she stumbled on a shop in California that was selling their stock of dresses, and guess what? Her perfect beach wedding dress was there! And in her size too! AND at half the price! It was meant to be.
