Jessica and Michael are Fun In The Sun Weddings’ newest newlyweds! From a long distance courtship to a destination wedding in Mexico, these travelin’ Texans are finally living happily-ever-after.
Here is their story…
How They Met
Jess and Michael’s paths first crossed when she helped him organize a fundraiser in Dallas. Several emails and one brief phone call to set up the event were the only interactions they had with each other. Fast forward two years when their mutual friend hosted a birthday party where the two met for the first time, at the very same venue as the charity event organized years prior. Jess and Michael hit it off immediately, much to the delight of their friend who had secretly been trying to connect the two behind the scenes.
At the time Jess was living in Austin, Michael in Dallas. Seeing each other only on the weekends forced the couple to appreciate every moment together. It wasn’t until after a year of dating long distance that Jess finally moved to Dallas, and then the couple realized their original connection of the funraiser years earlier!
How They Got Engaged
Annual trips were customary for the couple, and on an adventure to the red rock canyons of Sedona, Arizona, Michael proposed on a hike into the mountains to watch the sunset radiate through the canyons. Of course, she said “YES!”
Why a Destination Wedding in Mexico
The bride and groom’s first vacation together was to Tulum and they absolutely loved the beauty and vibe of Mexico!
The chose a beach wedding at Azul Fives Beach Resort in Playa del Carmen that far exceeded their expectations.
Their Favorite Moments
Jess loved the personal vows that they wrote. The bride and groom are Marvel movie fans, and without knowing what each other’s vows were, they had both tucked in a Marvel surprise which made their friends and family laugh.
Of course, Jess’ surprise choreographed dance for Michael was a favorite moment, as well as final group number complete with fireworks!
The Bride’s Advice
What advice does Jess have for couples planning a destination wedding?
Just have fun with your partner during the planning process. It can get stressful trying to coordinate every detail and make things perfect, but the most important part is that y’all do it together and have fun. If you want a crazy/fun element then go for it!
