Kayla and Logan are Fun In The Sun Weddings’ newest newlyweds! This bride and groom got married at their own private villa on the beach in the Riviera Maya. But this was not a destination wedding. No, these newlyweds are lucky enough to call this magical place home, and they did their ‘I Do’s’ in their own backyard.
This is their story…
Kayla and Logan are expats from the USA, now living in the community of Puerto Aventuras, Mexico. They met down the street from where they now live together, at a friend’s local business, and were given a firm nudge to get to know each other better and start dating. The rest is history.
When Logan proposed to Kayla, he was all about the romance. He whisked her away for her birthday to the gorgeous Azulik resort in Tulum, Mexico, where he pulled out all the stops. Picture it: A palapa villa perched high up on a cliff overlooking the sea. Her favorite snacks are laid out, and the candles are lit. He pours her a glass of champagne to toast her birthday, and then she sits outside to take in the warm breeze and beautiful scenery.
Meanwhile, he fidgets nervously nearby and asks if she noticed the gold in the champagne.
He flicked his lighter behind her glass, and there in the bottom was an engagement ring! She was in shock, and very relieved to have not swallowed the ring.
Kayla quickly started searching for beach wedding dresses and found one she absolutely loved at Bridal Elegance in her hometown in Virginia. She was reluctant to pull the trigger until their wedding plans came together, so imagine how excited she was when she returned two years later to find her dress still there, waiting for her! She knew it was meant to be, and that time said ‘Yes to the dress’.
Logan and Kayla have spent the last two years renovating their beachfront property to use as an event venue in the future, so their home seemed to be the most obvious location to hold their wedding celebration. They got down to business with some serious DIY projects. They designed all the decor, painted signs, and created a bar. They chose a beach theme, appropriately, with turquoise and sand as their colors, and accents of shells and starfish. They even had little outfits made for their Yorkshire Terriers who would share the spotlight of their wedding ceremony.
However, the best-laid plans are still at the mercy of Mother Nature and her mood on the wedding day, and unfortunately, she was feeling rather grumpy on the day that Kayla and Logan got married! Yup, they got the dreaded rainy wedding day! Luckily they had the flexibility to push back the ceremony, and they surround themselves with good friends who are always happy to wait as long as there is an open bar. And as soon as Kayla was ready to walk down the aisle led by one of their little fur babies, the rain stopped and stayed away for the rest of the evening. She tells us that they couldn’t have hoped for a better day.
Her advice for the bride-to-be getting married on the beach?
Take everything in stride, because before you know it, it will all be over. As long as you are smiling at the end, that’s all that matters.
Kayla and Logan, it’s been truly cool following your process from engagement to marriage, and we are honored to have shared such a special day with you. We wish you nothing but happiness in the future.
