Lauren & Chris are Fun In The Sun Weddings’ newest newlyweds! Family and friends have always played a pivotal role in this bride and groom’s relationship, from the very beginning of their adventure together, through to the start of their new chapter as husband and wife at an intimate and elegant beach wedding in Akumal, Riviera Maya.
Here is their story…
Lauren and Chris can thank his little brother Andy for introducing them a decade ago. After the years together went by, and it eventually came time to get engaged, Chris took his time crafting the perfect proposal.
First, he collected video footage of their loved ones at her birthday party, asking them “What does Lauren mean to you?” When he presented his final film, a declaration of love to Lauren, to their family and friends at a housewarming, it ended in the most impressive way, with Chris holding up signs in popular world attractions:
He held a ‘Will’ sign in London, where he had traveled in January that same year.
A ‘You’ sign in San Fransisco at the Golden Gate Bridge.
The ‘Marry’ sign was from the starting line of the Indianapolis 500.
And finally, the ‘Me?’ sign was in front of the Statue of Liberty.
Boys, you should take a page out of Chris’ book if you are planning a proposal!
The bride and groom love traveling and Scuba diving. When they discovered the town of Akumal, in the Riviera Maya, with its rich Mexican culture and fabulous Caribbean diving, they knew they had found the perfect location for their destination wedding.
With wedding planner Lucy Gallagher, their vision of a romantic, elegant beach wedding came to life. Cherry Blossom brought the bright blooms to complement the garden colors of their private wedding venue, Villa Bellamar.
The bride was a stunner in a second-hand beach wedding dress covered in lace, and her relaxed energy was vibrant, even through an afternoon rainstorm 2 hours before the wedding ceremony. She kept herself calm remembering that the day was ultimately only about their journey as husband and wife.
She found that doing their First Look photo session relieved some of the wedding day jitters.
The bride and groom’s families had all gotten passports and traveled out of the country for the first time just to be with them as they said ‘I Do.’ Lauren’s favorite moment was saying her vows surrounded by all of her loved ones.
What is Lauren’s advice for the bride-to-be getting married on the beach?
All that matters at the end of the day is that it’s about you and your husband. No one knows what DIDN’T happen so if you don’t have the boutonnière or they play the wrong entrance song, it doesn’t matter!
Lauren and Chris, it has been such a pleasure capturing this moment in your journey as husband and wife, and we wish you (and your loved ones!) nothing but happiness in the adventure to come. Congratulations!
