Nicole and James are Fun In The Sun Weddings’ newest newlyweds! Proof that true love always finds a way, and that what happens in Vegas doesn’t always stay in Vegas.
Here is their story…
How they met
What are the chances that a girl from the States and a boy from Australia would ever meet, let alone fall in love? If I were the betting type, I would say the odds are pretty slim. Whether it was pure luck or fate, our lovebirds found themselves in Las Vegas at the same time. Nicole was celebrating a friend’s birthday, and James was traveling with his best friends. Their connection was instant, and the rest, as they say, is history.
How they got engaged
James proposed to Nicole while on vacation in Fiji. He took her by boat to a private island where they spent the afternoon having a picnic and drinking champagne. They went for a long walk on the beach and he chose that moment to go down on one knee and ask her to marry him. Of course, she said Yes!
Why a Riviera Maya wedding
When the bride and groom first started dating, they lived a world away from each other. The first holiday they took together was in Mexico, and so it has always held a special place in their hearts. It seemed natural that it should be where they would get married.
James’ family traveled from Sydney and Nicole’s from Phoenix, and their Mexico wedding was the first time their loved ones had all met each other. It was even the first time their parents had met!
The venue
Nicole always wanted a beach wedding. A simple ceremony in the sand with close friends and family, followed by a big party afterward. When they found Villa La Joya in Playa del Carmen, Nicole’s vision for understated simplicity became a fairytale-com-true under the careful guidance of wedding planner, Natalia at Weddings On the Beach.
The bride and bridesmaids’ style
The bride’s beach wedding dress was from an Aussie label called Made With Love Bridal. It was simple and sexy with a low cut back and little buttons.
The bridesmaids’ dresses were Vera Wang. And the whole bride squad were stunners thanks to the Glam Team at Zoe Elizabeth Makeup.
The wedding decor
Nicole and James’ favorite aesthetic element were the flowers from the master of Floral Design, Vanessa Jaimes. The first time James sent Nicole flowers they were big, beautiful, pale pink roses, and they have been her favorite ever since. Their entire color palette was based on pale pink roses. She wanted pale and simple hues without any bright colors.
The ceremony
They decided not to do a First Look and Nicole had so much fun peeking out the window of Villa La Joya seeing James waiting for her at the altar. She loved the moment when they first made eye contact as she walked down the aisle.
James had worked so hard to make sure that every detail was perfect for her, that even Mother Nature’s strong winds playing with her long bridal veil left Nicole unaffected.
The wedding reception
Nicole and James’ favorite moment was when they finally sat down at their sweetheart table alone and listened to the band play. Hand in hand, relaxing together for the first time that day, they enjoyed her brother’s band who traveled from Phoenix to share the special day. They soaked up every moment of a rare occasion with everyone they love from around the world together at one time.
