Maria & Ben are Fun In The Sun Weddings’ newest newlyweds! Not even a pandemic wedding postponement could keep this bride and groom from saying “I Do!” at their dream Mexico destination wedding.
Here is their story…
How they met
Maria and Ben worked for the same corporation, but they were based in different cities. After meeting at a company event, they clicked, and dated long-distance for four years.
How they got engaged
The bride and groom are self-proclaimed Foodies, and so when her birthday came around he took advantage of the perfect excuse to take her to a three-Michelin star restaurant to celebrate. He hid the ring in a little pot with the final course.
Why a Mexico destination wedding
Since they both love to travel, adore Mexico and the beach, they figured – what better way to start their journey together as husband and wife than by combining all three into a destination wedding?
Also, having heard plenty of accounts of how the wedding day flies by, they made a weekend abroad out of it to enjoy spending more time with their loved ones.
Pandemic postponement
Originally scheduled for March 20, 2020, Maria and Ben’s destination wedding in Mexico was one of the thousands that had to be canceled or postponed due to Covid-19 at the last minute. It was the most stressful time of their lives! However, they set a new wedding date for a year later and are thankful to every guest who made the trip amid the ongoing pandemic.
The beach wedding dress
This beach bride was getting down to the wire and still hadn’t found her perfect wedding dress for the beach. Then one day while scrolling through Instagram her dream dress popped up as an advertisement. She fell in love at first sight! Luckily, a local bridal shop carried it and as soon as Maria tried it on she knew it was ‘The One’.
The wedding day details
Wedding planner Natalia, of Weddings on the Beach, helped the couple to choose a bright, vibrant color palette to compliment the beautiful Riviera Maya. The talented team at Pure Love floral design created blooms bursting with fuscia and orange.
They were wed at Hacienda del Mar in Puerto Aventuras, and Maria was an elegant and glowing bride thanks to the glam squad at Sara Garnier Hair and Makeup
The best wedding day moment
After having pictured her first dance with Ben so many times in her head, when the pyrotechnics actually went off around them, the moment exceeded her expectations.
The bride’s advice
What advice does Maria have for couples currently planning a destination wedding in Mexico?
Be extra clear on your expectations, things will not turn out exactly how you envisioned it if you aren’t very specific. And if it doesn’t work out, don’t let it ruin your day. Go with the flow.
Maria and Ben, we are thrilled to have had the opportunity to capture your special day and are especially happy for you that your dream wedding still became a reality amidst the current state of the world. We wish you this kind of good fortune all through your marriage. Congratulations!
